Our unique contemporary applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy can help your child with autism reach their full potential—and ultimately live a happy, fulfilling life.
SINCE
2001
For more than 20 years, Trellis has helped thousands of children with autism find success in school and life.
Our services in and around Forest Hill are led by Anne McHugh and her team of compassionate, highly-trained clinicians. We offer center-based and in-home ABA therapy for children ages 2-6.
ABOUT ABA
—and Contemporary ABA
Many things are still unknown about autism, but we do know that applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the most effective form of treatment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), according to many years of empirical research. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics considers ABA the gold standard of therapy for individuals with autism.
At Trellis, we refer to our approach as contemporary ABA to distinguish our therapy from the older, more structured form of treatment. Refined through decades of clinical insights and experience, our contemporary ABA:
- Uses data and current research to inform and guide practices and treatment
- Makes learning playful, naturalistic, age-appropriate, and fun
- Integrates the unique needs, interests, culture, and values of your child and family
- Considers you and other caregivers a core partner in your child’s treatment
BUILDING SKILLS, EXPANDING MINDSETS
ABA therapy increases positive behavior, while decreasing behavior identified as challenging.
Our unique contemporary ABA therapy can help your child:
- Build language and communication skills
- Develop social and play skills, while forming friendships
- Learn daily living and self-help skills
- Increase flexibility and tolerance for new routines
- Decrease behaviors that interfere with growth and learning
SERVICES
Learning Center
Our Learning Center Services give your child a chance to learn with and alongside peers, practicing and honing social, play, self-help, and communication skills, while gaining experience interacting with others. Designed exclusively for contemporary ABA therapy, many of our Learning Centers feature spaces for gross motor development, group learning areas, pretend-play spaces, and dedicated space for one-on-one time to accommodate the range of activities offered, depending on your child’s treatment plan.
Home & Community
Our Home & Community Services take place in your child’s natural environment, where we work one-on-one with your child for a prescribed number of hours a week. Targeting goals specified in your child’s treatment plan (e.g., toilet training), we integrate contemporary ABA therapy into your typical family routine. One of our exceptionally-trained behavior technicians delivers care in your home, under the guidance and supervision of a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA).
When ready, we can expand therapy into your community, helping your child participate in society through structured therapy in places like your local library, park, restaurant, or grocery store. Here, we work with your child to practice age-appropriate activities of daily living, such as waiting in line, taking turns, and ordering and paying for food. In these and other community settings, we tailor the setting and activity (and our use of ABA therapy) to your unique family values and lifestyle.
Diagnostics
We specialize in the assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the administration of several standardized assessment measures. If you suspect your child has ASD, our team can provide a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.
